Problématique des recherches pour l'amélioration des systèmes de production agricole au Burundi

Abstract

Research Issues For The Improvement Of Farming Systems In Burundi. Some characteristics of farming systems in Burundi and external factors of these systems make it difficult for research to progress, to find adapted improvements that have important impact in rural areas. Types of problems are distinguished at the political/programming level (macro-economic), as well as at the levels of farming systems themselves (micro-) and of difficulties connected to the market and to institutions downstream of research (meso-). It is therefore shown that research needs to specify sufficiently its scope of work through better knowledge of farming systems, to increase work at a subregional level for more efficient ressource management, and to invest enough energy in solving identified problems and removing bottlenecks.
