Imágenes de paz y de guerra: la reutilización de fotografías prebélicas en la prensa de la guerra civil española
Abstract
The History of Photography has been often analyzed as part of Art History, focusing on values as individual authorship, or the conception of images as an autonomous work. This article describes three cases of circulation of images in press and books, from the 1920s decade to the Spanish Civil War. To verify how the very image can be understood in different contexts shows the life of photographs in the modern media, independently from its author's intentions. From this point of view, the article vindicates the necessity of a History of Photography focused on the media, focused on the analysis of the social uses of images.
