En un mot: quel type d’expression métadiscursive?

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to study the French metadiscursive expression en un mot. We first focus on this locution out of context by showing its métalinguistic density and diachronic evolution. We then study the configurations Pn. En un mot q and xn en un mot z in context, revealing their properties, especially the fuzzy naming involved by using the second form.
