Starting from the original story by Mérimée, Carmen, in all its forms, has the right of permanent citizenship as a form of entertainment and in everyone’s fantasies: opera, rock opera, hip opera and musicals, dance and ballet, literature, theater, but especially in films (about 80 versions) with varied musical accompaniment, from jazz to rap. However, the representation of the character changes significantly in time and space. Carmen is a metaphor of the feminine par excellence, in all its glaring cultural variations: psychological, political, racial.
