Development Direction and Realistic Path of High Quality Teacher Education: An Interview with Professor Chen Shijian from Southwest University
Abstract
Professor Chen Shijian has been engaged in theoretical research and practical exploration of teacher education in China for years. Professor Chen believes that teacher education in the new era should be based on the national strategic needs of building an educational strong country and developing the Chinese path to modernization. Therefore, teacher education should realize the strategic transformation of high-quality development, to provide a basic guarantee and strategic support for high-quality development of education. The high-quality development of teacher education is a systematic project. Professor Chen pointed out that building a high-quality development pattern for teacher education needs to be rooted in the land of China, comprehensively promote the deepening reform of teacher education, explore the development path of high-quality teacher education with Chinese characteristics, build a collaborative mechanism for teacher education subjects, gather diverse subject forces, stimulate subject innovation vitality, especially to leverage the advantages and characteristics of normal universities and high-level comprehensive universities, and jointly promote the quality leap of teacher education. It is necessary to build an innovative teacher education talent team, provide a solid teacher guarantee for cultivating high-quality teacher talents, and develop fundamental strengths for the innovative development of teacher education.
