The Need for Forensic Anthropological Facilities in India for Human Decomposition Research

Abstract

In the recent past, several human decomposition facilities have been established to systematically study how the human body decomposes under different environmental conditions. However, as of today's date, India lacks such infrastructure and relies completely on animal analogues for decomposition research. A discussion regarding the establishment of a dedicated human decomposition research facility in India has been presented and its potential benefits for forensic science education and research in the long run has been argued in this article.
