El papel de la prensa en la Renaixença cultural de la Cataluña Occidental (1808-1874)
Abstract
In the present work we will elaborate an updated record of the periodicals appeared in the Western Catalonia in the comprised period between 1808 and 1874. There are two reasons for this.On the one hand, this chronology seems correct from the political point of view, for during these years the Bourgeois Liberal Revolution develops and this process finishes with the Old absolutist Regime and establishes the bases of a liberal and constitutional monarchical State. On the other hand, in Catalonia the Renaixença (a political and cultural movement, particular to this Spanish region) that will determine the contents and the social bases of the future Catalan nationalism, starts to develop.
