Problems of ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of automated library information system databases

Abstract

The problems of ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of automated information system databases are discussed. The methods of solving these problems are considered. The article describes the possible causes of violations of database integrity. The classification of database integrity restrictions is given. The experience of ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of readers database of V. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine (VNLU) is presented. The main characteristics of «IRBIS64» automated library information system are considered. The tools of «IRBIS64» automated library information system for ensuring the database integrity are described. In this article the questions of information input into the readers database of VNLU are discussed. This article characterizes the tools for information control in the process of input into the readers database. The paper deals with questions of automatically data generation in the input process. The brief characteristic of IDCardMaster system of plastic cards personalization is given. Usage of this system in the process of manufacturing of plastic library tickets of VNLU is described. The attention is focused on the development of tools for docking «IRBIS64» automated library information system and IDCardMaster system of plastic cards personalization.
