In this study, nickel-rich NiTi shape memory alloy powders with elemental Ni (10μm) - Ti (20μm) powders were milled for 60 minutes by mechanical alloying. The effects of Ni and Ti powders addition during milling on prealloyed NiTi shape memory alloy powders were investigated. For this purpose, weight of 2%, 4%, 6%, 8%, 10% elemental Ni and Ti powders were mechanically added to the prealloyed NiTi powders respectively. 1:10 powder / ball ratio was used for mechanical alloying. Initial powders and alloyed powders were characterized using X-ray (XRD), elemental distribution spectrometry (EDS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM). As a result of the study, it was found that the milling of Ni powders was more effective in the mechanical milling of prealloyed NiTi powders and elemental Ni / Ti powders.
