This article deals with the connections between culture andcity during the last 15 years. It touches upon the restruc-turing of cultural fields –the new role of private companiesand the weakening of the State in the realm of culturalpolicies–, the audiovisual networks as key actors in theprovision of information and entertainment, and urbandisintegration and socio-cultural conflict.
