La politique linguistique de la Francophonie et la problématique de l’anglais

Abstract

Linguistic diversity is one of the fundamental principles of Francophonie; it allows the strengthening of the role of the French language as a means of communication for the world's nations. The English language is one of French language's partners worldwide. In the current international context, the Francophonie recognizes the need for an active, yet cautious partnership with English and other languages of the world, but at the same time is aware that, in order for the French language to consolidate its position on the international scene, well-thought long-term strategies are necessary to further assure a certain status and a certain influence of French in relation to English.
