Autonomia e ética na gestão escolar
Abstract
This work discusses problems surrounding the notion of the school manageras a professional in the context of the neoliberal debate about pluralism anddemocracy in education. It thereby aims to stimulate discussion about newforms of educational thinking and practice with the aim of increasing schoolautonomy. It is suggested that the school manager should be conceived not asa distinct profession but that rather it should be understood as part of theidentity of the teaching professional. From this perspective the code of conductof the school manager ceases to be a mere moral formality and becomescentral to the process of powersharing. Within the school context a code ofconduct can be so developed as to allow for the performance of theadministrative function within the context of other educational activities.
