Past and present of the celiac disease (I). From its history to the serological markers
Abstract
The celíac disease, or gluten-sensitive enteropathy, is currently the most frequent chronic digestive illness around the world. In this first part we review some aspects of historical interests and we show the advances in the fields of epidemiology, genetics, immunopathogenesis and the widening of the clinical spectrum with the emergence of new concepts, which have been enriched by the diagnostic contributions in the field of immunoserology.
