Paraguay was traditionally listed as one of the largest marijuana producers worldwide. In recent years, with the discovery of several cocaine laboratories, international seizures of said substance and the hegemonic presence of the First Command of the Capital (PCC), it was affirmed that the small South American nation would be immersed in a deep and marked process of transformation of their illegalities. The methodology used was qualitative, with a country focus, under the time period stipulated between the years 2016 and 2020. Among the main results we can highlight that the growth of this activity had as a context low investment, precarious control, and abundant suspicions of complicity by the political / government class. In another sense, a dislocated production is reflected, in conjunction with the countries of the region. It is recommended to analyze the production associating above all with the tax level that this product could generate.
