An Advanced Beamforming Mechanism Based on Programmable Plasma Prisms
Abstract
This paper examines the feasibility of a novel programmable beam-shaping mechanism based on plasma prisms for advanced beamforming applications. The proposed mechanism offers versatile control over the direction, width, and splitting of electromagnetic beam by independently activating plasma prisms and adjusting their plasma frequencies. Through comprehensive numerical simulations, we demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed mechanism in achieving precise and controllable beam shaping. The simulations showcase various operational modes, including beam steering, beam divergence, and beam splitting, with potential applications in wireless communication systems and radar technologies. Furthermore, we investigate the implementation of the beam-shaping mechanism using commercially available fluorescent lamps, providing insights into its practical realization. The proposed mechanism contributes to the field of antenna engineering by opening up new possibilities for advanced beamforming technologies.
