THE NAMES OF PLANTS DETERMINED IN THE KİTAB-I GÜZÎDE-İ İLM-İ TIBB

Abstract

Humanity from it's origins struggles with different diseases. First way of getting provided, protected and saved from disease was found in nature. Different sorts of animals, minerals, curative water, stones and plants have been helpful in the treatments. Useful items of nature such as plants and their functions, advantages and disadvantages were researched during the history. Botanic, history of medicine, pharmacy and folk medicine started being practiced after these researches and experiments. Kitâb-ı Güzîde-i ʿİlm-i Tıbb is a piece about medicine from XV. century. This book which was written by Şirvanî is very important literature for the history of the medicine. Apparatus, which was used during the treatment such as ointment, paste and compound are also written in this paper. The base of ointment, paste and compound which were used for human's health is made of different sorts of plants. The names of the plants, in this book, which was written in basic language, are also important for understanding vocals and the structure of the words of language in that period. The book that we have elaborated is saved in England in The British Library Oriental and India Office Collections by number 15049. This article is about names of plants that are written in the Kitab-i Güzide-i 'İlm-i Tıbb.
