System analysis and formulation of requirements to the metrological support of the information and measuring system of oil tank farms
Abstract
The use of information and measurement systems in the oil and gas industry helps to reduce the cost of production and storage of petroleum products, reduce the use of energy resources, and also reduce the cost of technical personnel by increasing the likelihood and speed of obtaining information necessary for making management decisions. The main purpose of the tank farm is to receive and store oil. The introduction of an information and measurement system by a tank farm will help significantly reduce the work of technical personnel, reduce the cost of equipment repairs by increasing the turnaround time, as well as increase the quality of oil products, due to constant monitoring of technological processes, automated control of equipment, as well as quick elimination of the arising system malfunctions or in case of emergency. The most important parameters for storing oil are the level of oil in the tanks, the pressure in the pipeline, and also the temperature. The information and measurement system of oil product tank farms allows monitoring these indicators using modern field sensors and programmable local controllers, and also allows adjusting these parameters using actuators. The information and measurement system (IMS) of oil product tank farms should consist of a distributed control system (DCS) and an automatic emergency protection system (ESD).
