A Systematic Literature Review of Job Characteristics and Work Engagement: A Bibliometric Study
Abstract
In organizations, the top management customarily debates about enriching the performance of employees by concentrating on job characteristics with the inclusion of the work engagement (WE) concept. Frequently the job characteristics of employees are classified according to the Job Demand Resource Theory (JDR) or Job Characteristics Theory (JCT). At the same time, WE are apprehensive about an employee's enthusiasm and dedication at work. This systematic literature review aims to analyze the selected research studies on job characteristics and WE from accessible databases from 2017 to 2021, critically review the most noticeable theories and the most common measures used and generate the research themes through Bibliometric analysis and MS-excel. Furthermore, Bibliometric analysis entailed the selected literature trends, most influential words, dominant authors, co-occurrence network, thematic map, and factorial analysis. The PRISMA is used for systematic screening. Moreover, the conceptual model and the imminent directions have been proposed to intellectuals and future researchers. Therefore, this review conspicuously contributed to the literature. This review suggested that organizations and policymakers should intrigue policies, & strategies to best design the job characteristics of the workforce. In addition, Managers should acknowledge that WE illuminate the performance, and augment the organisations' revenues and commitment. Implementing job characteristics and WE concepts will provide a competitive advantage for organizations to sustain and progress globally.
