Functional illiteracy as a threat to sustainable development of modern society
Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of functional illiteracy as a social phenomenon. The author notes the socio-historical context of the formation and development of functional illiteracy in the world. The main approaches to the analysis of functional illiteracy are considered: economic, institutional, national-state and personal. The author emphasizes the importance of international functional literacy assessment programs (PISA, PIAAC) for people around the world.
