New approaches and established models for scaling up sex- and gender-sensitive medicine teaching
Abstract
Abstract Teaching sex and gender-sensitive medicine (SGSM) can enhance the quality of medical care for people of all genders. However, the available literature about the implementation of SGSM in medical education is limited, and theoretical models are lacking. This narrative review examines existing options and introduces a new theoretical model to systematically evaluate SGSM integration. We outline implementation steps at the content level and the related learners’ competences, and offer recommendations for advancing the in-depth implementation of SGSM teaching.
