Epistemological Convergences And Divergences Between Communication Studies And Library Science In The Digital Era
Abstract
Abstract: The fields of Communication Studies and Library Science are often regarded as distinct disciplines; however, they share fundamental commonalities in their focus on information. This paper explores the interrelationship between these two fields from both a cognitive and philosophical perspective. It examines how both disciplines approach the creation, organization, dissemination, and accessibility of information, and highlights the philosophical considerations that influence practices in each. Drawing on the impact of digital technologies, the paper illustrates how the boundaries between Communication Studies and Library Science are becoming increasingly blurred. Through a comprehensive analysis, the paper discusses the ethical, epistemological, and practical intersections between the two fields, particularly in the context of information access, privacy, and the shaping of public consciousness. Finally, the paper addresses future challenges and opportunities in the evolving relationship between Communication Studies and Library Science. Keywords: Communication Studies, Library Science, Information Accessibility, Digital Technologies, Epistemology, Ethics.
