Many countries need climate services in order to adapt their development plans to a changing climate. However, not all countries have the resources to provide the full range of climate services themselves. The WMO Regional Climate Centre (WMO RCC) for the World Meteorological Organization's Regional Association VI (Europe) is mandated to support member countries through their respective National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) to fulfil their national climate-related duties more effectively. It provides agreed products and services in standardized and operational formats. The WMO Regional Climate Centre for RA VI (WMO RA VI RCC) has been set up as a network with three RCC Nodes, each with specific functions and an overall coordinator. These functions address the three core issues: data, climate monitoring and prediction services as agreed in an intergovernmental process by the Members of WMO RA VI. All the activities carried out by participating institutions are completely voluntary and funded from respective national budgets.
