In this article, the fundamental points for following up the discussion on the epistemological bases of education for settlers and campers in agrarian reform areas are presented, which is a production that derives from the realization of a course that the authors taught, precisely for campers and settlers of agrarian reform, in September 2021, FORMCAMPO. The objective of this work, therefore, was to problematize what education is, according to the dominant model of “banking” education, and, furthermore, to investigate how the differences between the aforementioned educational model and that of the education of social movements are established. Furthermore, the pedagogy of the movement is conceptualized, and, going further, we present the singularities of education/schooling in the settlement and encampment spaces. The methodology used was documental research and the instruments used for data collection were texts which discussed the subject. We opted, however, for the procedure of content analysis, and in such analysis, the results revealed that, since its genesis, the peasant movement works with the concern of affirming the importance of socialist education, but it finds difficulties to do so. The conclusions signals the need to restore the principles that support such an educational model.
