The Inscriptions of Kariya Manikka Perumal Temple, Idaikal, Ambasamutram, Tirunelveli are ancient inscriptions found on the walls of the Kariya Manikka Perumal Temple in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. These inscriptions date back to the 12th century and are written in Tamil language on stones and copper plates.The inscriptions provide valuable historical information about the ruling dynasties, their patronage of temples, land grants, and social and religious practices of the time. The inscriptions mention the contributions made by various kings and commanders, including the Pandya, Vijayanagara, and Nayak dynasties. Some of the inscriptions also describe the administrative and legal systems in place during the period, including land ownership, taxation, and judicial procedures. Additionally, the inscriptions provide information about the various festivals and rituals that were conducted in the temple, as well as the role of the temple in the social and cultural life of the people. Overall, the Inscriptions of Kariya Manikka Perumal Temple provide a glimpse into the rich history and culture of Tamil Nadu, and serve as an important source of information for researchers and scholars interested in the region’s history and society. During the period of Bhakti literature in Tamil Nadu, Saivism and Vaishnavism sidelined Jainism and Buddhism. When man began to realize that his energy was limited, he began to realize that there is something beyond energy and that there is a Supreme One who is capable of controlling everything, and the beginning of worship was created. Big Temples were built by the kings based on these and their reverence to the Gods. Hence, the article studies about the Inscriptions of Kariya Manikka Perumal Temple.
