I analyze the translation carried out by José María de Torrijos y Uriarte of the memories that Napoleón dictated to his generals Baron Gourgaud and Count of Montholon, and the introductory biography he added. This work was a new contribution to the reflections on the historical legacy of the Corsican that had been given in the Spain of the Triennium and that he continued in English exile between 1825 and 1826 with the intention of offering a model of political management to the nascent republics of Hispano-America. What I want with this analysis is to study how Torrijos applied the criteria of Romanticism and Napoleonic legend to understand the politics of his time and the virtues that should have the leaders who sought to restore liberalism in countries ruled by absolutism
