TWO CUSTOMS WITH A SIGNIFICANT ROLE IN THE LIFE OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE RURAL COMMUNITY — SEEING OFF TO THE ARMY AND PATRON SAINT DAY CELEBRATION
Abstract
The article outlines the major aspects related to the existence of customs and traditional music in the milieu of the contemporary social life. Some of these are conducted according to tradition with minor adaptations, preserving their content and meaning unaltered, while others are revived and included in the rural cultural circuit with the aim of preserving, safeguarding and harnessing the cultural heritage. The customs of “seeing off to the army” and “patron saint day celebration” act as manifestations with a premarital function, which still have an important role in the life of young people in the contemporary rural community.
