The article discusses some aspects of socio-cultural creativity of the medieval East poets by example of Omar Khayyam's writings. They are viewed through the prism of Sufism religious philosophy, which played a major role not only in cultural but also in political life of the Muslim community. Omar Khayyam was a representative of «Persian Sufism». Being a student of Ibn Sina, he adhered to the doctrine which does not question the existence of God the Creator, but allows the possibility for nature and society to develop themselves according to their own laws.
