Research on the Revitalization of Rural Fisheries in Fujian Lianjia Boat People Settling Ashore: Taking Dongshui Village in Lianjiang County as an Example

Abstract

Fujian Lianjia Boat People are a special group formed under specific historical conditions. It is a great historical and practical significance to investigate and analyze the basic situation of their development and changes in the villages where they have settled ashore, and study and propose paths and supporting measures for upgrading the fisheries and the revitalization of fishing villages. This paper first summarized the history and achievements of the development and construction of the fishery industry in Dongshui Village in Lianjiang County. Problems were analyzed and grasped, such as the lack of local land resources, the shortage of human resources, the serious loss of population and the single industrial structure. Then four supporting strategic measures to promote the development and comprehensive revitalization of the fishery industry in Dongshui Village were put forward. Those were: promoting the culture of boat-dwelling people, enhancing the villagers' sense of identity and their centripetal force; extending the industrial chain, enhancing the added value of fisheries and villagers' income; expanding mobilization and training, continuously strengthening the momentum of industrial development and revitalization; relying on policy advantages, developing innovative special industries in accordance with local conditions.
