Les enseignements d’un récit : l’exemple des débuts politiques de Denys l’Ancien selon Diodore de Sicile

Abstract

A close reading of Diodoros Siculus narrative of the political early days of Denys the Elder (XIII, 91‑96) enables one to cast a new lignt on the conditions in which he laid hold on power and also on the foundations that structured the dynasteia then placed into position. Hypotheses are here put forward concerning the chief events that marked his political ascent and the entourage of his supporters.
