The article analyses the state of the didactics of the history in Mexico considering the problems that hinder the implementation of a formative approach of the subject; this is reflected in the most current curricular proposals. Some elements of the historical development of the subject of history in Mexico are exposed from the nineties, which is when it starts the proposal of “historical thinking”. The analysis considers some approaches that are part of the debate about how it should be the teaching of history in the classrooms of basic education. The intention is to achieve a balance between the pedagogical and the discipline, as foundations for a didactic of the formative history.
