Abstract

The article discusses the adaptation of a Vietnamese refugee family to life in France, describing how they faced social, economic, and cultural challenges. The emphasis is on the educational journey, during the socialization of the children, particularly the consequences for the children resulting from the alignment or misalignment with parental expectations, both academically and in terms of cultural transmission, within the context of migration. The reflection is based on a longitudinal fieldwork spanning fifteen years, including observations and interviews. This narrative highlights the challenges and adjustments that a vietnamese refugee family encounters in France, underscoring the delicate balance between preserving the original culture and adapting, acculturation to the host society.
