Educación financiera en los trabajadores del sector alimenticio en México
Abstract
Financial education in workers in the food sector in Mexico The study focuses on measuring the level of financial education (EF) among corporate workers in the food sector in Mexico. To obtain the data, the EduFin test was applied to 325 workers from the corporate branches of the food sector. Data were analyzed using exploratory factor analysis with component extraction and Varimax rotation, as well as one-way ANOVA to identify differences by gender. The main findings show that the level of financial education of workers is not low and no difference was found by gender. It is recommended to expand the sample to a largest number of employees in the different regions. The time needed to apply the test prevented its being used with a larger population in other regions. In general, we can say that the employees of the corporations studied showed an acceptable knowledge of the five constructs that were analyzed; they can be expected to manage their finances well. It is convenient to continue developing and implementing public policies and financial education programs for workers in the different productive sectors.
