Application of the economic approital technical of re-qualification actions of the environment in degraded area

Abstract

This paper deals with an area next to river Passo Fundo, inthe city of Passo Fundo/RS, which is irregularly occupied bydwellings of precarious nature, in locations of flood risk andliability. In this work, after the characterization of the objectivearea of study, the Method of Contingent Evaluation was appliedthrough the technical of Disposition to Pay (DTP) for economicappraisal of possible environmental and urban planninginterventions. Questionnaires were applied to three groups ofinhabitants that encompass the occupied area, in consideringurban, socio-economic and cultural aspects, and the existingenvironmental impacts, aiming at evaluating their dispositionto pay the re-qualification of the same one. The results of thisevaluation will allow orientation of future public politicians ofurban management. The results obtained gave evidence of thefeasibility of the Method of Contingent Evaluation application,considering different environmental conditions, referring to theeconomic appraisal of a passive environment.
