An analysis of Ivanov’s «Dostoevsky: Tragedy, Myth and Mystery» yields the discovery of the major role which the morphology of evil plays in the author’s work. The author demonstrates the place of Ivanov’s Ponerology in European culture and philosophical tradition, as well as the organization of the main images of evil and the way they relate to each other: Lucifer — Ariman — Legion. The article clearly shows the expository potential of Ivanov’s conception in the understanding of contemporary culture
