The role ò tourism in economic growth in Vietnam

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to examine the role of tourism in economic growth in Viet Nam which is analyzed covering both long-term and short-term. Theoretical foundations are based on previous studies and the econometric model which was constructed by using the Cobb-Douglas model. Granger causality test, Johansen cointegration test and Vector Error Correction model are employed to track five variables including economic growth (Y), openness (OP), tourism (TR), capital investment (K) and labours (L). The results of study pinpoint that tourism is a positive factor for economic growth in short-term and long term with small scale.
