INTRODUCTION: In this study, our aim is to evaluate the usefulness of YouTube videos about epiretinal membrane surgery in the retina. METHODS: When it was scanned by typing 'epiretinal membrane surgery' in the YouTube search engine, the first 100 videos on this subject were evaluated. Then, these videos were analyzed and scored with DISCERN, Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and Global Quality (GQ) scoring systems. RESULTS: DISCERN score of the evaluated videos was 30.0+-7.8; JAMA score 1.5+-0.6; the GQ score was found to be 1.8+-0.6. When the results of epiretinal membrane surgery are evaluated according to the quality scoring of these three scoring systems, the DISCERN score is weak; the JAMA score was assessed as low quality and the GQ scoring as poor quality. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Although there are many videos about epiretinal membrane surgery on Youtube, it has been determined that these videos are low usefulness as a source and poor quality.
