In this study, we studied the phenomenon of violence; as old as humanity, which we confront as a violation of rights in respect of existence and freedoms, and which brings itself into existence every time in various ways. Throughout the study, what the violence is, how it emerges, its causes, forms, and effects are discussed. Therefore, theoretical data were reviewed initially.Violence which is used as a tool for problem-solving in societies has a universal quality, thereby it exists not only in underdeveloped or developing countries but also developed countries, and it is present in the daily life. Violence; that emerges as a result of unequal power relations (in the socio-cultural, economic, etc. fields) between men and women, aims to exert power and control over women. This exertion of power and control causes women to be exposed to not only physical violence but also other forms of violence such as emotional, sexual, economic etc. One of these; economic violence, is a form of violence which is not accentuated very much. However, woman’s gaining a place economically in the social structure is very important in forming identity (existence as an individual).Starting from this point, the aim of this study in which 154 female administrative staff of Cumhuriyet University participated is to present how socio-cultural and economic structures of the society constitute violence (especially economic one) towards women, what results it causes, and suggestions about its solution. Data obtained through the procedure are presented and evaluated as general findings. According to the results of the study, 51.3% of the participants stated that they are exposed to emotional violence; 13.6% to economic violence; 9.1% to physical violence; 4.5% sexual violence (20.8% of the participants did not respond to this item).
