With the Borders of Amazonia Landaise (France) : Water and Forest Landscapes of the Current of Huchet The coastal wetlands of the Landes are ecologically and natural heritage wise valuable ecosystems. They bring diversity to the landscapes, often described as monotonous extents of maritime pines and/or sand. Amongst these wetlands figure coastal streams, small rivers which contribute to the drainage of the Plateeau Landais towards the ocean. Arguably, the Huchet stream is the most prominent of those watercourses. This ecosystem formed of water and vegetation has become an object of curiosity, and even a sanctuary for tourists and hikers in search of a return to nature. The promotion of the seaside resort of Hossegor, the creation of the protected designation of Côte d’Argent and the creation of the myth of Landais Amazonia has strongly contributed, over the last century, to the popularity of the Huchet stream.
