Analyse spatiale multicritère et identification des sols propices à la production du maïs à Ouessè au Bénin

Abstract

In Benin, maize is very important in the agricultural production system. It is the basis for food consumption in the southern part of the country which constitutes about 2/3 of the national population. Despite this, its development is facing some enormous challenges. This study aims at contributing to the improvement of the maize production in Ouessè district in the centre of Benin.The methodology used, based on GIS technique coupled with multicriteria analysis using physio-chemical soil component. The result reveal that Ouessè district have high level of soil suitability for maize. It add up 9,67 % mean suitability area, 17,73 % of favorable and 72,62 % of very favorable.
