The objective of this article is to discuss a trajectory until the inauguration of Judicial lunatic asylum of Santa Catarina, in 1971, analyzing the perspective of the development of the psichiatry in thee state, the relations with the politic and juridic power, emphasizing the approach on specific person: the "insane person-criminal".
