Enhancing Qur’anic Sciences through Sahih Al-Bukari’s Book of Interpretation: Specific Application to Surat Al-Fatihah

This research is concerned with two points. One is that by explaining Surat Al-Fatihah using Sahih Al-Bukhari’s Book of Interpretation, this research seeks to highlight the advantages of Al-Bukhari’s interpretation approach. The other point is the inference of general statements for Qur’anic sciences and interpretation fundamentals from related Hadiths and athaar (the sayings of sahaabah and taabi’in’s sayings, contained in the Book of Interpretation. The research aims to acquaint students with the methodology of analyzing Hadith statements and deducing scientific inferences from them. According to the research findings, Al-Bukhari, despite his naql practice (following traditions of the sahaabah and their followers in judgments,, was selective in interpretation. Also, there is still need for explaining his selection processes and methodology. The research recommends that applied studies be conducted using the Sunnah books and the sahaabah and taabi’in’s sayings. Also, the sahih books and sunan books should be explored for the purposes of Qur’anic sciences and interpretation. They are a source of deriving principles for Qur’anic sciences and interpretation fundamentals, and they include relevant information on scholars’ methodologies.
