This articles describes the environment and its relationships with modern organizations, and explores the information management issues for knowledge-based organizations based on the information processing theories and information use models in business settings. The paper argues that the understanding of information environment and information use concepts is fundamental to knowledge management and those who will provide business information services should be well-informed about the nature of the modern business environment and the role of information and its management.
