A indústria lítica do sambaqui do Morrote
Abstract
This article presents the lithic assembly of the Morrote shell mound (sambaqui). This collection comes from a burial mound site, located on the southern coast of the state of Santa Catarina. Morrote is considered, by regional standards, to be a middle size sambaqui, comprehending a succession of archaeological layers with more than 5 meters high and, a complex stratigraphy alternating organic and malacological layers including, hearths, postholes and a large amount of fish remains. However, the focus of this article is to discuss the lithic industry as well as the methodological choices derived from the laboratory analysis, followed by brief discussion of intra-site context of those artifacts.
