In a highly reflexive society, in which social relationships are arranged and rearranged constantly, individual and group actions are modified by everyday life. Thus, it is perfectly acceptable that changes in gender relationships also happens. The woman is a key figure in this changing process. Giddens considers that she is the subject of behavioral changes in private environments of modern society due to the fact that she does not want to reproduce patterns, traditions and habits, parameters that guide the actions and relationships of women until that moment. When fighting for their rights, women brought to the public sphere themes (sex, love, marriage, family, children, etc.) which were at that point restricted to private live. This contributes to transform intimacy, identity and social relationships between men and women. This paper presents the analysis Anthony Giddens carries out about the effect of modernization in gender relationships.
