Self-Deception and its Relationship to Psychological Well-Being among University Student

The current research aims to identify the level of both self-deception and psychological well-Being among students of University of Anbar according to the variables of gender and specialization, and to identify the correlation between self-deception and psychological contentment, where the researcher adopted the steps of the descriptive, associative approach, and the selection of the sample in a stratified random manner by (200) students To achieve this, the researcher built a measure of self-deception based on the theory (Taylor & Brown, 1988).The scale of psychological well-Being was prepared according to the theory (Seligman, 2002), and after applying the appropriate statistical procedures, the results of the research showed that the research sample possesses self-deception at a high level, and that there are statistically significant differences according to the gender variable and for the benefit of males, and that the members of the sample enjoy psychological well-being at an intermediate level, There are no statistically significant differences according to the variables of type and specialization, as the results indicated a direct correlation between self-deception and psychological well-being among students of University of Anbar, and in light of the results the researcher put a number of recommendations and proposals.
