The benefits of collaboration between scientist and entrepreneurs for developing innovations are crucial at many universities. Scouting of knowledge is the fundamental tool for identification and analysis of the scientific research results in the context of their commercial potential. The article shows scouting as a tool used by university for developing open dialogue and sustainable relation between universities and business partners. Scouting is a process which is focused on systemic identification, monitoring and evaluation of research results in terms of their commercial potential on the one hand. On the other hand, scouting is a process aiming at searching for potential business partners for scientific teams in order to develop common innovation projects. Knowledge scouting it therefore a process important for both demand and supply of scientific research with commercial potential.
