The Pınarbaşı district is located in Uzunyayla district of the Upper Kızılırmak section of Central Anatolia. While the district is ranked 5th among the districts of Turkey with an area of 3420 square kilometers, it is in the 538th rank in 970 districts as of 2013 in terms of population. According to the socio-economic development research prepared by the SPO in 2004, the district is included in the 4th group among 6 groups. The population of Pınarbaşı was increased due to the immigration of Caucasus, the migration of 93 War (1877-1878 Ottoman Russian War) and the migration and settlement of the Fırka-i Islahiye in the first half of the 19th century. As a result, the district was established in 1861. The development of the population in the district can be divided into 5 phases. These; 1527-1563; I. Dynamic Population Growth, 1563-1730; I. Dynamic Population Loss, 1945-1955; Decline due to Administrative Boundary Changes, 1955-1985 Stable Population Increase, 1985-2015; II. Dynamic periods of demographic loss. The most important problem is that the county has lost its population holding capacity. For this reason, there is a tendency to shrink in both the villages and the district center.
