La formation des ingénieurs dans un contexte postcolonial sud-américain : le Colegio Militar de Bogota (1848-1884)
Abstract
Following the independence of Colombia in 1819, challenges associated with establishing a scientific and technical institution would finally be resolved in 1848 with the launch of a military academy : the Colegio Militar. The study of this academy located on the South American continent allows us to take a decentralized look at the dynamics involved in implementing a mathematical education system in a postcolonial context, the decisive factors defining mission and objectives, and the influence of political and socio-cultural contexts. This study of the Colegio Militar additionally sheds light on the circulation or exchange of knowledge in educational settings, specifically on the training of engineers. Particular attention is given to highlighting the diversity of these flows of knowledge, the respective adaptation processes that accompany them, but above all, the way teaching methodologies evolved as a result.
