Territorial disputes in the Brazilian tropical savanna (cerrado): the peasants-agroextractivists and the agribusiness in Maranhão and Tocantins
Abstract
The introduction of agribusiness in the cerrado is supported on the historic process of land grabbing by the latifundium, and the capitalism development. This article is resulted of a research, between Mars of 2012 and June of 2013, in the states of Maranhão and Tocantins, Brazil. The cerrado fruits have a transcendental value on the reproductions of the modes of peasant life. But agribusiness expands even though the actors face that process through productive, educational and political strategies in an unfavorable socio-environmental context.
