Global cities as centers of international tourism
Abstract
The author analyses the role and functions of the global cities as centers of the international tourism. At the current stage of the world economy functioning global cities are the high-performance centers of the regional economy formation. They accumulate in itself all the economic and socio-cultural processes and determine the dynamics of the regional economy. Global cities are also key elements in the spatial organization of the world tourism industry. They are characterized by high absolute value of tourist arrivals. That global cities form the sites of the tourist activity and is responsible for the strategic development of the world tourism market.
